Disabled American Veterans

DAV (Disabled American Veterans) is a 90+ year service organization with a membership of more than 1.2 million members. It is dedicated to ensuring that veterans and their families can access the full range of benefits available to them.

Comunicad served as DAV’s communications Agency of Record and undertook the design of its new distinctive mark – a new brand identity and tagline that embodies the organization’s philosophy of strength, perseverance, and adaptability. We produced DAV’s first-ever public relations and advertising campaign to build awareness and educate the public about its free services for veterans of all generations. Post-campaign awareness metrics were up by double digits in key markets.

We managed over a dozen DAV-branded community engagement activities to bring attention to DAV’s services and develop local partnerships with businesses, community leadership, and academia. Our staff also planned and implemented media and constituency outreach on the impact of veterans’ benefits and claims due to the 2013 government shut down. An integral part of our outreach during the shutdown was in support of VA Advance Appropriations for veterans’ benefits. Tactical communications work included mobilizing grassroots supporters around the country, holding town hall meetings and rallies, and calling on Members of Congress to pass the Putting Veterans Funding First Act.
